Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 22, 2026

AIT Scribe is built privacy-first. This policy explains what we collect, what we don’t, and exactly where your voice goes when you use the app. Short version: when you use the local engine, your audio never leaves your device.

1. What we collect

Nothing, by default. AIT Scribe can run entirely offline using the local transcription engine. In that mode we do not collect, transmit, or store your audio, transcribed text, or usage data.

When you choose to use a cloud engine, the following applies:

  • OpenAI engine: your audio is sent to OpenAI for transcription using your own API key. We never see, proxy, or log that audio. See OpenAI’s privacy policy for their data handling.
  • Sarvam engine: same as above, using your Sarvam API key. Audio goes directly from your device to Sarvam’s endpoint.

2. What the app stores locally

  • Transcription history (so you can search, re-paste, and export past transcriptions). Stored only on your device.
  • Learned vocabulary (words the app has picked up to improve future transcriptions).
  • App preferences: theme, hotkey, language, selected engine.

You can clear any of this at any time from Settings. Uninstalling the app removes it all.

3. What we don’t do

  • We don’t run analytics on your usage.
  • We don’t sell, share, or rent data — there is none to sell.
  • We don’t train models on your voice or text.
  • We don’t require an account to use the app.

4. Update checks

The app periodically checks our update endpoint to see if a newer version is available. This request includes only the app version and platform. It does not include any personally identifying information.

5. Crash reports

If the app crashes, you may be asked whether you want to send a report. Reports are opt-in, include only a stack trace and app version, and are never sent without your explicit consent.
