Frequently asked questions

The hotkey doesn’t do anything when I press it.+
Make sure AIT Scribe has Accessibility permission (macOS: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility). Also check Settings → Hotkey to confirm you’re holding the configured key, not just tapping it.
Auto-paste isn’t working in my app.+
Some sandboxed apps block simulated keystrokes. In that case, AIT Scribe falls back to clipboard — just press Cmd/Ctrl+V after you release the hotkey.
Transcription accuracy is poor.+
Try a larger local model (Settings → Model Size) or switch to the OpenAI engine for higher accuracy on tricky accents. Adding frequent proper nouns to Settings → Vocabulary also helps significantly.
How do I use my own OpenAI or Sarvam API key?+
Settings → Engine, pick the cloud provider, and paste your key. The key is stored securely in your OS keychain and never transmitted to AIT Scribe’s servers.
Where are my transcripts stored?+
Locally on your device only. On macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/AIT-Scribe/history.db. You can export or clear everything from Settings → History.
The floating bubble disappeared.+
Press ⌘⌥B (macOS) or Ctrl+Alt+B (Windows) to snap it back to the center-bottom of your main screen. Or use Settings → System → Reset bubble position.
Does AIT Scribe work offline?+
Yes — as long as you’re using the local engine (the default). OpenAI and Sarvam engines require an internet connection because they transcribe on cloud servers.
